Answers to common questions about visiting TaoWest in South Fremantle.
Frequently asked questions
What happens at my first appointment?
We begin with a conversation about your health history, current concerns and what matters to you. Maaz explains the proposed care, discusses relevant risks and alternatives, and answers your questions. You choose whether to proceed, and consent is sought before treatment.
How should I prepare?
Wear comfortable clothing and bring a list of your medicines and supplements, along with any relevant reports. Let Maaz know about allergies, pregnancy or any concerns before treatment. For acupuncture, have a light meal or snack beforehand rather than arriving hungry.
What if I am nervous about needles?
Please tell Maaz before your session. You can ask questions, discuss your preferences and request a pause or stop at any time.
Do I need to take herbs?
Herbal medicine is an option to discuss, rather than a requirement. If herbs are being considered, Maaz will ask about your medicines and explain relevant safety considerations. You can decide whether to proceed.
How long is an appointment, and what does it cost?
Current fees, appointment lengths and available times are listed on our booking page. Choose the service you are interested in to see the details before booking.

Can I claim a private health rebate?
Rebates may be available depending on your fund, level of cover and the service booked. Check your eligibility with your insurer before your appointment. Contact TaoWest if you need practitioner details for that enquiry.
How many appointments will I need?
This varies with your circumstances. Maaz will discuss whether follow-up care is appropriate, explain the proposed plan and review it with you. There is no fixed number of visits for everyone.
